Career Day at WSS
To help students explore a range of professional opportunities for their future, Washington Street School hosted a Career Day for fifth and sixth graders on May 2. This annual event is presented by the school’s PTA.
Students selected two professions that interested them and participated in corresponding sessions to gain deeper insight into each career. Among the careers featured included an author, aviation maintenance technician, environmental scientist, martial arts instructor, police officer, nurse and technology consultant. All visiting professionals are family members of a Washington Street student.

Kindergarteners Celebrate Earth Day
Kindergarteners read “Our Planet, There's No Place like Earth” and brainstormed ways that they can take care of the planet. They worked with partners to write their ideas and then painted the Earth using a photograph for inspiration.

John Street School students in grades K-6 were treated to an unforgettable experience when nationally acclaimed comic-magician Brian Richards brought his signature “The bGreat Show” to their gymnasium on April 23.

Polk Street School’s pre-K classes celebrated the beginning of spring with a flowerpot craft on April 11. Following a party with an array of snacks, the students began decorating their own flowerpots. Using colorful spring stickers of bumblebees and flowers, they beautified their pots and prepared them for being filled with dirt. Donning gardening gloves, each student planted their flower seeds. The flowerpots will be placed on the classroom windowsills for the students to observe their growth.
