Intra-District Math Tournament

The district hosted its annual Intra-District Math Tournament on April 17, bringing together more than 100 fifth and sixth grade Math Olympiads students from all three school buildings. A total of 22 teams competed in the event, which featured both individual and team challenges, with all scores contributing to each team’s final scores.

The top-scoring fifth grade team was Polk Street School students Ethan Chan and Frankie Oppedisano and John Street School students Kingsley Wu and Oliver Penagos Kalontarov. In the individual round, Penagos Kalontarov, Wu and Polk Street School student Judah Thampikutty were the top-scoring fifth graders during the independent round.

The top-scoring sixth grade team was Polk Street School students Giuliana Genovese and Grace Stajonowski and John Street School students Jake Bogusch and Vincenzo Maldonado. Bogusch and Washington Street School students Thomas Tonkin and Jeancarlo Andrade were the top-scoring sixth graders during the independent round.

The Intra-District Math Tournament was coordinated by the district’s Math Olympiads instructor Maggie Tittler, with district math specialists Kevin Wagner, Jane Coelho Debbie Dilthey and Kristin Rudolph guiding students through problem-solving strategies and solutions.
